Due to the passing of FMVSS 226, most newly manufactured vehicles sold in the United States are now required to have laminated side windows. This new requirement poses a serious problem for Rescuers. Laminated side windows must be cut in order to access persons trapped in their vehicle, and traditional window punches will no longer work.
